Tre Richardson - Baylor Baseball

What made me want to play baseball was my dad. He introduced me to the game at 4 years old and I just fell in love with the game over time. My hero or heroes are honestly my parents. They have always been my inspiration. Anytime anything goes wrong for me, or has gone wrong for me, they’ve always been there to keep me going. When things are going good, they keep me grounded, and with the ups and downs in baseball, I need people like that. They are my rocks.

What makes my story and journey unique is that I am the little guy. Anywhere and on any team that I have ever played, I’ve always been the smallest or one of the smallest. That drives me to be the best version of me possible though. It helps me play with a lot more heart because personally I’m going out to win for my team and I will do anything possible to do so.

I would say the biggest obstacle I’ve had to face is what everyone has had to face, and that’s been Covid. I think as a society that’s been the biggest obstacle we’ve had to face whether you’re an athlete or an average citizen. For me, I just tried to make everything as normal as possible - hitting, lifting, and resting my body for the fall and season on the way. I think the biggest thing that helped me too was my family, and gaining a stronger relationship with the Lord. That’s been the only thing that has gotten me through the good and the bad of my regular days and I thank the Lord every day for it.

Honestly maintaining focus has probably been one of the hardest things for me, but I have always been a very goal-oriented person. I have learned that each big goal has little goals in between them too, and for me to successfully attain each goal I’ve had to focus on the little ones and that has helped me slow everything down in my life now. My goals in baseball honestly are to just be the best teammate and player that I can possibly be for my team. My goal is to bring a national championship back to Waco.
